This is a rare episode of "You Asked For It", a program that originated in 1950 on the Du Mont Network, moved to the ABC network in the mid 50s, where it was cancelled in 1959, only to be revived three times in subsequent decades.
The premise of the show was that viewers would choose the entertainment by writing in and requesting a program about a certain subject or featuring a certain personality, character or act. Many people cite this as the first example of reality TV because it often looked a human interest stories as well as featuring traditional forms of entertainment.
This fragmented episode features Bela Lugosi performing a magic trick.

It's good to see Bela on this show, even if he is rehashing his Dracula role yet again. His work with the actress is great. I wish "The Phantom Ghoul" and "Dr. Acula" would've materialized for him.

Okay, whatever became of this? I want to see DR. ACULA.

I'm just a little too young to have seen these first hand, so this was very amusing!
I've always felt a little sad for Mr. Legosi- aside from his rumored addiction problems, he was typecast forever by that one trademark role. Better than no career at all(?) Ask Shatner and Adam West!

A show of "You Asked For It," with Host Art Baker, and sponsored by Skippy Peanut Butter, I used to watch this all the time when it was on. A very entertaining show. It was always a wonder as to what each show would deal with.

I believe Burton was alluding to a Red Skelton appearance and not this one.

I think Tim Burton tips his hat to this show in 'Ed Wood,' where Bela appears on a TV show in a two-minute skit spoofing his vampire movies.
