Seriously underrated Golden Age gem
Solar Fox is kind of a combination between Pac-Man and Asteroids -- that's the best description I can think of immediately. I don't know how popular it was in the arcades, but the CBS Electronics port for the Atari 2600 is, in my opinion, one of the most addictive games available for that console. I must admit I like the home version better if only for the fact that you can adjust speed in-game (in the arcade version the player pre-picks a ship speed before the game starts). You can't fire in the 2600 version, but I found this does not make a lot of difference (it is nice to be able to temporarily freeze the ships firing at you, however). If you like shooters and maze games, Solar Fox offers the best of both worlds.
